CHALLENGE

It was required to create a Template and a Tool for the Autodesk Revit software package in order to enable modelling of all the power cables. And, when exporting the model to IFC format the cables need to appear as well. Also, it was required to obtain the necessary specification with 85-90% accuracy without additional modeling of the cables.

SOLUTION

To address the requirement, in addition to creating the necessary template, a Tool in C# has been developed. Using this Template and the Tool the cables in the model can be reflected as geometric elements and the necessary specifications and electrical schemes can be obtained automatically in accordance with the format of the specified organization.

RESULT

• 20% acceleration of the design process
• 100% accuracy in extracting cable specifications when the cables are modeled as geometric elements
• 90% accuracy in extracting cable specifications when the cables are not modeled
